Ares is badly injured by the Giants during the Gigantomachy
After Zeus won the Titanomachy Tournament, he became the Chief God of the Greek Pantheon, replacing Kronos. Unable to accept the fact that Zeus defeated Kronos, the Primordial Goddess, Gaia, led her spawn, the Giants, in an all-out war against the Greek Gods, known as Gigantomachy. Ares was on the frontline with his troops against the Giants until he was too injured to fight.
Ares explains during the meeting that the Giants are not giving him a chance of victory
At that point, Ares was taken to Olympus Palace to be healed and he asked the nurses to work on him as quickly as possible as he worried his troops wouldn't be able to fend off the Giants alone. Ares then attended a meeting Zeus had with his brothers, alongside Hermes.
After Hermes said the situation looked unfavorable for them, Ares told Zeus that the strength of the Giants was incomprehensible and he believed it was only a matter of time until they reached the palace.
Ares celebrates the victory of the Greek Gods in the Gigantomachy
Ultimately, Zeus decided to pummel the enemy with all their being and he led all the Greek Gods into battle, including Ares. Eventually, Ares was left huffing and almost collapsed when Hermes held him up. Ares asked him if it was over and Hermes confirmed they won. Ares then joined the other Greek Gods in celebrating their victory.

2000 B.C. Council[]
Ares, during the Gods' Council 4000 years ago, asks Shiva if he can be the one to attack Thebes, as it falls within his jurisdiction
Around 4000 years ago. Ares was present at the Gods' Council to decide the fate of Humanity. In the end, Humanity was allowed to live but not without a punishment. Aphrodite suggested the destruction of the city of Thebes and Shiva immediately volunteered to be the one to do it, but Ares demanded that the attack be entrusted to him since Thebes was part of his jurisdiction. He arrived at the city's gates with his army, but was stopped by Alcides, who got in their way of heading into Thebes.
Ares vs Alcides
Ares, seeing Alcides' great willpower, ordered him to kneel down to him to save his life, but Alcides decided to drink the Ambrosia and strengthened himself with the blood of Zeus, becoming much more powerful. Alcides then defeated Ares' army and the two of them started fighting. After some time, Zeus decided to interrupt the fight before anyone sustained major injuries.
Ares and Zeus are puzzled to hear Alcides declare that to protect Humanity he will "abase" himself to become a God
Ares admitted that if Zeus had not stopped them, he would have perished. He was then exasperated when Alcides said he would "descend" into Godhood to save Humanity. Eventually Alcides becomes a God and is renamed "Heracles" in honor of Hera, the wife of Zeus, becoming Zeus' son.

Second Round[]
Ares tells Hermes that Humans are hopeless as they rejoice at a blow from Zeus dodged by Adam
With the start of the second round, Ares takes a seat next to Hermes. He found it funny that the humans celebrated when Adam dodges Zeus' test jab. However, he gets surprised and shocked when Adam continues to dodge Zeus attacks and even starts copying and hitting Zeus with them. Hermes and Ares are surprised to see that Zeus is about to use The Fist That Surpassed Time against a human, but are surprised that Zeus is the one that falls on the ground.
Ares confused about how Adam affected Zeus
Ares, explains that Zeus speed cannot be perceived by some of the gods. He is able to follow Zeus, but Zeus' last punch was so fast that even Ares could not follow. He thought that Zeus landed his hit, but in that instant he saw Zeus face turned backwards and he falling to the ground. Hermes states that in the same instant Zeus launched his attack, Adam copied it, then dodged Zeus attack and hit him with it.
Ares threatens Hermes for understanding how Adam hit Zeus unlike he
Ares is surprised that Hermes had seen it and takes him by the collar, but Hermes denies he saw it, but feels this happened, and looks at him with a menacing look forcing him to let go. Ares realizes that even if he trained for 1000 years, he could not defeat Adam. As Adam and Zeus perform a spectacular fight, both Ares and Hermes are fascinated by it. In the end it is Zeus who wins the Second Round, with Adam dying staying up.
Third Round[]
Ares and Hermes surprised by Kojiro Sasaki's abilities
When the third round starts, Ares and Hermes are impressed by Kojiro Sasaki, however as the fight start and both are not moving, Ares guesses that both are waiting for the opponent to enter their range and counterattack.
Hermes finds it funny and corrects Ares that Poseidon isn't hoping to counterattack, he will simply crush any bug that enters his range.
Ares and Hermes remember Adamas' rebellion against Zeus
Hermes explains that Kojiro is mentally battling Poseidon and looking for a way to win. To not look dumb, Ares states he realized it too. Hermes tells Adamas story and how he was killed by one blow to Ares, who then recalls Adamas rebellion.
Hermes reveals he was the one that betrayed them as he though a war would be fun and at that time the young Zeus also believed the same and wishes for a war.
Ares and Hermes shocked to see Poseidon's defeat
However, Hermes states that the fearsome part of Poseidon wasn't that he killed Adamas with one blow, but that he ordered he to be forgotten and no one objected or was allowed to object. During the fight, Hermes and Ares are surprised that Kojiro is able to always improve and keep predicting Poseidon's movements. Ares and Hermes are shocked to see Poseidon lose the match and be killed by Kojiro Sasaki.

Ares, Zeus and Hermes are furious at Poseidon's defeat and want to avenge him by sending a Greek God in the Fourth Round
After the fight they join Zeus, in his room together with Shiva and Loki, and are furious. After Zeus admits that Humans are strong and must fight back Shiva offers to fight in the Fourth Round, but Zeus stating that the next fighter will be a Greek god as well as they have a debt to pay to mankind.

In the aftermath of Beelzebub's Chaos technique, Ares is shocked by the devastating display of power. Later in the fight, Ares continues to cheer on Beelzebub, but expresses concern over Tesla's warp ability.
Ares, hearing from Hermes that Beelzebub made Nikola Tesla's attacks useless, thinks he already has victory in hand
Hermes explains that Tesla's technique exploits his opponents gaps and that with Beelzebub's battle sense he is likely forming a counter. Ares is momentarily joyous and expresses confidence in Beelzebub's chances of victory but Hermes' doubts frustrate him and he demands to know which outcome is most likely. Hermes explains that so long as Telsa possesses his sole remaining Super Tesla Coil then the outcome is unpredictable.
Ares collapses in his chair after relaxing following Beelzebub's victory
In the aftermath of Beelzebub's victory, Ares collapses into his chair in relief and converses with Hermes on the final moves of the match, admitting that he couldn't follow Tesla's attack. Once Hermes explains the details of Tesla's unavoidable pincer attack, Zeus joins them and Ares is surprised that even Zeus was taken aback by the unconventional attack.
