Blow is the 27th chapter of the "The Legend of Lü Bu" manga series.
Summary[]
Lü Bu and Narcissus were in a quiet room, each consumed by their thoughts. Lü Bu calmly prepared for the battle ahead, while Narcissus reflected on the ferocity of Gryps' previous fight, still fresh in his mind. The atmosphere shifted when Gryps himself entered the room. Narcissus, startled, immediately recognized him and was taken aback by his unexpected presence. Gryps approached Lü Bu directly stating that Lü Bu should bring a weapon for their battle. Watching Lü Bu’s earlier fight had convinced him that the warrior’s strength would only grow with the proper armament. Lü Bu did not respond, maintaining his silence. Gryps continued, urging him not to underestimate Spartans. He explained the essence of being a Spartan—fighting and winning against the strongest as the strongest. It was more than just a clash of strength; it was a message, a way of proving to the citizens that the Spartan spirit lived on. This, he declared, was his reason to fight. Narcissus, hearing these words, was reminded of his father.
He recalled the moment he had begged his father not to meet with Commodus, knowing that such an action would place his life at great risk. His father, however, had refused, asserting that as an aristocrat, it was his duty to advise the emperor, regardless of the danger. That, his father had said, was his fight. This memory left Narcissus questioning himself, wondering what it meant to have such a purpose and how one could find the courage to face it. Gryps addressed him directly. Courage, he said, wasn’t something external or given. It was something one had to discover within. Lü Bu, silent until then, smiled at Gryps. He acknowledged his opponent’s strength and declared that their upcoming battle would be fought with everything they had. Gryps accepted this and departed, leaving the room.
Back at the arena, the atmosphere was electric as the Coro siblings took center stage to announce the final round. They introduced the two fighters. Lü Bu stepped into the arena, wielding his halberd for the first time, drawing gasps from both the crowd and the Coro Siblings. Gryps awaited on the other side. As the Coro siblings declared the start of the battle, the two warriors approached each other. They halted just before clashing, each preparing their strongest moves. In that charged moment, their eyes met, and they both shared a final, mutual understanding. They asked each other not to fall—not to die in this ultimate test of strength.
