Bliss is the 48th chapter of the "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok" manga series.
Summary[]
With his Axe of Misery back to normal, Zerofuku clashes weapons with Buddha multiple times. Zerofuku yells at Buddha to go to hell and strikes the ground with his Axe of Misery.
Zerofuku transforms his Axe of Misery into bladed nunchucks
Spikes suddenly extend out from the Axe of Misery but Buddha is able to hold the spikes back with Nirvana. Zerofuku grows increasingly frustrated that none of his attacks are working and the Axe of Misery takes in all of his frustration, evolving into a bladed nunchuck-like weapon.
Realizing Nirvana won't work against this, Buddha orders the Six Realms to turn about again and the Six Realms Staff changes into First Realm: God Realm, Wish-Granting Wheel Kannon – Lokapala, changing the club into an axe with a long handle. Buddha decides this means a melee fight and both he and Zerofuku continue to clash weapons. Heimdall observes that the two seem to be on even footing but thanks to Buddha's future-vision, he has an edge and dodges Zerofuku's next attack by jumping up. Buddha swings Lokapala down, pressuring Zerofuku. Calling Buddha a coward, Zerofuku pushes him back and attempts to use both blades to attack Buddha from different sides.
Buddha uses First Realm: Divine Realm, Wish Granting Wheel Kannon - Lokapala to wound Zerofuku in the chest
However, Buddha spins Lokapala around to deflect Zerofuku's blades before slashing Zerofuku across the chest. Heimdall questions if this is the end of the match but Zerofuku stands his ground as his Axe of Misery begins changing again. Zerofuku begs Buddha to just be gone already and his Axe of Misery transforms into Axe of Misery: Storm Formation, rows of curved blades coming out of the Axe of Misery's handle. As the curved blades begin coming down, Buddha calls Zerofuku's puberty way too fun and assures him he'll take care of all the consequences. The Six Realms Staff then begins changing again and it becomes Third Realm: Human Realm, Unshakable Cord Kannon – Akshaya, a golden shortsword.
As the curved blades get close, Buddha begins moving and destroying some of the blades. However, the curved blades follow Buddha of their own will. Deciding to take advantage of this, Buddha runs to the Gods' section of the crowd and lets the wild blades narrowly attack the Gods who are watching, much to their anger.
Buddha protects the public from Zerofuku's Axe of Misery: Storm Formation
He begins getting the blades to follow him to Humanity's section of the crowd but instead of letting the blades narrowly hit them, Buddha stands his ground and begins cutting them down. As the crowd cheers, Socrates realises that Buddha is playing up to the crowd and calls him a tease, with Confucius adding that, "The virtuous man will not long remain lonely." Buddha finishes cutting the blades down to nothing and calls Zerofuku's puberty awesome. As the Axe of Misery turns back to normal, Humanity keeps cheering for Buddha while the Gods are in shock at how strong Buddha is.
Gritting his teeth, Zerofuku inwardly complains about how both crowds are just gawking at Buddha and that it's always been like this. Zerofuku yells for them to look at him for once and a spike extends out of the Axe of Misery. Buddha narrowly dodges the long spike before stating to Zerofuku, "One is truly one's own master." Buddha tells Zerofuku he has to start loving himself. Zerofuku tells him to quit saying things that don't make sense and swings his Axe of Misery. As Buddha holds it back with Akshaya, he admits to Zerofuku that he really likes him. As Zerofuku moves back, he yells at Buddha to quit giving him such half-assed answers, only to then understand the true meaning behind Buddha's words.
Buddha and Zerofuku decide to resolve the battle by punching each other
Suddenly, as Zerofuku realizes he's always wanted to be just like Buddha, his Axe of Misery loses its source of power and disappears, leaving only the handle. Zerofuku admits he just wanted to be loved by everybody and drops the handle. Ares exclaims this is bad since Zerofuku has lost his weapon. Buddha compliments the look on Zerofuku's face right now before willingly tossing aside Akshaya, inviting Zerofuku to finish things off with their fists. After a few moments, Zerofuku charges in and the two punch each other's faces. Zerofuku recalls the day Buddha invited him to achieve enlightenment with him and admits that though Buddha was a Human, he understood him more than anyone else.
As the crowds cheer for both contestants, the black sclera of Zerofuku's eyes disappear and he cries, admitting that right now, he's at the peak of happiness. Buddha lands one final punch and knocks Zerofuku to the ground.
