Unexpected is the 8th chapter of the "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok" manga series.

Summary[]

The appearance of Adam startle both the Gods and Humanity. Huginn & Muninn are shocked that he's actually participating while the other Gods comment on how he looks much weaker compared to Lü Bu, with some Goddesses admitting Adam looks cute. Heimdall jokes that Adam has begun arousing the Gods, in more ways than one, before claiming that the one who will go against the Father of Humanity, will be none other than the strongest God in all of India.

Heimdall forewarned

Heimdall is notified of the change in the Gods' representative for the Second Round

Heimdall declares he will now be making his grand entrance, only for nothing to happen. Heimdall is then contacted over intercoms, informing him that they're changing the order. Heimdall wonders who's going next and displays visible disbelief when he hears.

Suddenly, the sky goes dark and the sound of a violin is heard. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart recognizes the music as Johann Sebastian Bach's "Air on the G-String." Crying, Bach says he has never heard it been played so beautifully, claiming it truly is a heavenly arrangement. A spotlight then focuses on the Gods' entrance and Hermes comes stepping through, playing the violin. Göll wonders if Hermes is going up and asks why since his name wasn't on the roster. Nervously sweating, Brunhilde is in disbelief about who is actually going next.

Slaughter in the Gods Ring

Hermes plays "Slaughter in the Gods Ring", heralding Zeus' entrance into the Second Round

Heimdall apologizes for the technical difficulties before revealing that the God that will be fighting against Adam is none other than "this" God. He points to Hermes before correcting himself as another spotlight shines on a frail Zeus, asking the audience to treat him kindly. Brunhilde inwardly curses Zeus as the Gods are all in shock that Zeus is fighting in the second round. Humanity question who Zeus is, as he only looks like a frail old man and Heimdall hasn't announced his name. Zeus orders Hermes to do "it" and Hermes wonders how many millennia it has been since he last heralded Zeus' march into battle. Hermes then summons multiple violins and plays his own rendition of "Air on the G-String" called "Slaughter in the Gods' Ring".

Bach calls it a concert of the Gods and Zeus drops his cane, saying this song gets his blood pumping. Heimdall claims that if Adam is the Father of Humanity, then this man is the Father of the Gods. Rather, he's G.F.O.C. – the God Father of Cosmos. The Gods begin cheering "G.F.O.C." while Zeus and Hermes dance. Göll questions what she's seeing right now and Brunhilde says she has no idea. As Humanity keep questioning who the "old man" is, Heimdall says that this God uses the power of creation to his own whim and returns whatever he doesn't like, back to the void. After Heimdall calls him the King of Gods, Zeus enlarges the muscles in his legs. Zeus then enlarges the muscles of his upper body as Heimdall recounts how Zeus once brought about the Titanomachy, to decide the mightiest God.

Shiva Angry

Shiva gets angry at Zeus' request to fight in his place in the Second Round

He proudly bears the crime of killing his own father, Kronos, and Heimdall adds that this old geezer gets off on battle. Heimdall finally declares that the second representative for the Gods is none other than Zeus, much to the surprise of Humanity. Göll questions why the last boss is showing up in the prologue. Biting her thumb, Brunhilde admits this was out of her expectations. Hermes begins thinking back to just before he and Zeus appeared. In the hallway to the entrance to the arena, Shiva prepares to go up, telling himself he has to cool down, otherwise his opponent will end up in ashes very quick. Zeus taps him on the shoulder and Shiva wonders if he came to cheer him on, only for Zeus to claim it is his turn now. Shiva says he's supposed to go next but Zeus repeats himself. Shiva asserts that they decided Zeus will go last and tells Zeus to get lost if he wants to take his turn since it's been a few thousand years since he's been this hyped. Opening all five of his eyes, Shiva yells at Zeus to let go of him but Zeus still repeats himself.

Shiva Respect

Shiva agrees to let Zeus fight in his place in the Second Round

Shiva questions if he's deaf, only for Zeus to apply more pressure and force Shiva on his knee, telling him it is his turn now. Getting back up, Shiva then dares Zeus to a fight right now, if he really wants to go, much to the interest of Hermes. After a few tense moments, Shiva decides to let Zeus go, since he's his senior. He tells Zeus he owes him and Zeus just chuckles before heading to the entrance, much to Hermes' disappointment. In the present, Hermes calls Zeus the most shameless God in existence.

The Gods and Humanity cheer for their representatives and Zeus questions where Adam's Völundr is. Getting in Adam's face, Zeus tells him that, without a Völundr, this fight will be ended quickly. Adam points up and reveals she is already here.

Reginleif Völundr

Adam and Reginleif perform the Völundr

Riding on a Pegasus into the arena is the seventh of the thirteen Valkyries, Reginleif. Brunhilde calls her the most perfect Valkyrie for Adam as her name means "Daughter of the Gods." Jumping down, Reginleif tells Adam that they need to match wavelengths, in order for Völundr to work. Smiling, Adam touches his finger with Reginleif's and they start the Völundr process. Reginleif disappears and Adam's Völundr appears on his right hand – a knuckleduster. After Adam says he likes this, Zeus chuckles.

Round 2 of Ragnarok – Zeus vs. Adam.
