— Chen Gong to Red Hare in File No.00000000001
|
Chen Gong is the strategist of Lü Bu's army. Like the rest of Lü Bu's men, he was fanatically loyal to the general.
Appearance[]
Chen Gong had long straight hair that reached his neck and a hair bun that tied the back of his hair. He also wore the Han Dynasty military armor.
Personality[]
Chen Gong was beaming with pride and joy that his lord was fighting against the Gods. When Lü Bu died under Thor's hammer, he became grief-stricken along with Lü Bu's army that they decided to follow Lü Bu in death rather than to live on without him.
Plot[]
Past - Flying General[]
Piercing the Halberd[]
In 196 AD, the tyrant Yuan Shu sent his general Ji Ling with an army of 30,000 soldiers to invade Lü Bu's territory in Xuzhou. Chen Gong was the first one to notice the invasion and came to the conclusion that they could not win. In response Lü Bu decided to go himself. He entered the enemy army with a flag, shouting that the battle was over. Amused, Ji Ling made a bet with Lü Bu that if he could shoot down a halberd standing on a nearby hill, he would withdraw. Lü Bu decided to use the flag he brought.
Despite the long distance, he hit the halberd on the first try, forcing the humiliated Ji Ling to withdraw with his now demoralized army.
Sky Eater Training[]
Chen Gong shocked to see Lü Bu learn the Sky Eater
At one point in time, Lü But decided to train for a long period of time in order to perfect his skills. Chen Gong decided to accompany him and managed to witness Lü Bu most powerful attack.
Last Days[]
A captured Chen Gong watches helplessly as Lü Bu is executed
After Lü Bu's execution (at the hands of Cao Cao), Red Hare, Chen Gong and the rest of Lü Bu's army followed him into the afterlife.
Ragnarok[]
First Round[]
After both contestants entered the arena, Chen Gong and the rest of Lü Bu's army cheered for their lord before Chen Gong halted their cheering.
Chen Gong was touched to be able to see Lü Bu fight again
He inwardly told Lü Bu that they will follow him into battle, wherever he goes, before immediately crying out of excitement for being able to see Lü Bu fight in battle once more. After the match started, Lü Bu lowered his weapon and begun walking towards Thor, who did the same. Watching, Chen Gong noted this was to be expected of his lord. Upon witnessing Lü Bu block Thor's Hammer and slash the God across the chest with his halberd, Chen Gong took pride in the fact that Lü Bu could even pierce the heavens.
Chen Gong happy to see Lü Bu smile during a battle
As Lü Bu clashed with Thor afterwards, Chen Gong realised he was smiling and called it the first time he's seen Lü Bu so happy. When Lü Bu broke one half of Thor's Járngreipr, Chen Gong and Lü Bu's army all cheered, with Chen Gong rejoicing about how this meant there truly was meaning in dying together with him. However, once Mjolnir awakened and Thor unleashed Geirröd, which ended up causing the bones of Lü Bu's legs to snap, Chen Gong despaired about how Lü Bu would die before his eyes once more.
Chen Gong cheers on Lü Bu inspired by Red Hare
At that moment, Red Hare charged into the arena and upon seeing the horse, Chen Gong slapped himself, asserting they aren't giving up here for they consider their lord to be the strongest. Riding atop Red Hare, Lü Bu prepared his greatest attack and Chen Gong knew what it was as soon as he saw Lü Bu grasp the tip of his Sky Piercer. Knowing this is his most ultimate technique, Chen Gong realised that Lü Bu must consider Thor to be his greatest rival.
Lü Bu clashed his greatest attack, Sky Eater, against Thor's Geirröd Thor's Hammer. In the end, Lü Bu was the one who was defeated in that exchange, driving Chen Gong to tears.
Chen Gong, Red Hare and Lü Bu's army decides to die along with its commander
After Heimdall declared the match over, Red Hare confronted Thor. Chen Gong stood next to Red Hare and assured Red Hare that he understood its pain before ordering the entire army to follow after their lord as whether it be on Heaven or Earth, a land without Lü Bu means nothing to them. Thor obliged, considering them to be offerings to his rival, and as he swung his lightning-filled hammer, Chen Gong died smiling, along with Red Hare and the rest of Lü Bu's army, happy to hear Thor speak Lü Bu's name alongside the resonation of thunder.
