Commodus was Rome's emperor from 176AD to 192AD.
Appearance[]
Commodus appears as a muscular young man with short, spiky hair. His attire reflected his elevated status, often consisting of luxurious garments befitting an emperor. He would don ornate armor or extravagant gowns, showcasing both his power and his refined taste.
Personality[]
Commodus was known for his extravagant personality, often prioritizing lavish parties and gladiatorial combats over politics. He detested receiving advice and was resistant to being told he was wrong. While the nobles of his empire held him in low regard, the common people seemed indifferent to his rule at that time. Despite his imposing presence, he was cowardly, intimidated by figures like Lü Bu and preferring to delegate his problems to others. In public, however, he displayed a certain passion and charisma that captivated his audience.
Plot - Flying General[]
Past[]
He was the son of Marcus Aurelius and was designated with the title of Princeps at the age of 15. He ruled alongside his father as co-emperor until his father's death, after which he assumed full control of the empire. Sorty after the beggining of his reing, he had Lucius Rufinus executed for daring to advise him.
In a display of opulence and brutality, he organized the Titanomachy Tournament, pitting the finest gladiators in the Roman Empire against one another. To settle a personal score, he commanded Narcissus Rufinus to participate, seeking revenge for an imagined offense committed by Narcissus's father, Lucius. To heighten the stakes, he further constrained Narcissus by prohibiting the sale of weapons, complicating his chances of success in the arena.
Titanomachy Tournament[]
As the tournament begun, Commodus stepped forward and mades the announcement: the winner will receive a single wish—anything they desire. Whatever the victor wants, Commodus promises to grant it.
From his private balcony, Commodus watched the combats unfold, his gaze sharpening with distaste as he realizes that Narcissus has found a way to avoid fighting, sending a stand-in to battle on his behalf. He observed the first match and, unimpressed, commands Octavius to crush Lü Bu. To his astonishment, Lü Bu wins the fight with ease, leaving Commodus incredulous.
During the break between combats, Commodus summonemd Lü Bu and, hoping to secure his loyalty, offering him the position of commandant of his private guard, promising wealth and the full restoration of the Rufinus family name. However, when Lü Bu refused the offer, Comodo’s face darkened with fury. As the remaining combats play out, he watched with an uneasy mixture of anger and fear, already plotting Lü Bu’s murder—and perhaps Narcissus’s as well.
Eventually, Lü Bu emerged as the tournament’s victor, leaving Commodus with no choice but to honor his promise. Reluctantly, Commodus granted Lü Bu his reward—but instead of accepting the position himself, Lü Bu designated Narcissus to lead Commodus' guard. Years pass, and tensions simmer beneath the surface. Ultimately, the bitter irony unfolds as Commodus meets his end at the hands of Narcissus.
Abilities[]
Overall abilities: He was raised with all the training and discipline expected of a future emperor, mastering every skill deemed essential for a ruler. Likely driven by his fascination with combat, he trained diligently, honing his techniques. Yet, for all his preparation, he had probably never faced a true battle where his life was genuinely at risk.
Trivia[]
- The real Commodus was unpopular among the nobles due to his extravagant behavior and disregard for tradition, but he was widely popular with the common people. Known for his generosity, he often distributed gifts and held grand public spectacles, earning their admiration. Unlike his attitude toward the nobility, he appeared to show greater tolerance and leniency toward the lower classes, further solidifying his appeal among them.
- Commodus’s reputation for cowardice may stem from stories suggesting that he roamed the streets of Rome in disguise, often dressed as a common thug. In these outings, he would pick fights with unsuspecting citizens; those who dared to defend themselves faced harsh punishment. After one encounter in which he was publicly berated, Commodus reportedly became wary and began ordering his guard to accompany him on these nighttime excursions, ensuring that he remained protected while maintaining the facade of bravado.
