Conqueror of the Heavens is the final chapter of the "The Legend of Lü Bu" manga series.
Summary[]
February 7th 199 A.D. - Xiapi castle.
Lü Bü, his hands bound behind his back, was led by guards toward the gallows. The soldiers were part of Cao Cao’s army, and Cao Cao himself watched the scene unfold with an unflinching gaze. Among the spectators, Chen Gong, also bound, wept uncontrollably. In the crowd stood Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu, witnessing the end of the strongest man in China.
A flashback brought to light the moments leading up to this. Lü Bü and Chen Gong were seen atop a rooftop. Chen Gong, his face strained with worry, informed Lü Bü that Cao Cao’s army—200,000 strong—was approaching the castle. He asked Lü Bü what he intended to do, whether he would kill Cao Cao alone or face all of them. But instead of responding with his typical ferocity, Lü Bü sat down and told Chen Gong that he was leaving. Confused, Chen Gong pressed him for clarification. Lü Bü explained that throughout his life, he had fought countless powerful men, and he had come to a realization: none could truly defeat him. He declared that it was time for him to search elsewhere, gesturing toward the sky as he spoke. The weight of Lü Bü’s words struck Chen Gong, who began to cry. Lü Bü asked if he would truly accompany him. Without hesitation, Chen Gong confirmed, reminding Lü Bü of his promise to follow him anywhere.
Returning to the gallows, Lü Bü glanced up at the noose with a smirk. Unbothered by the grim fate awaiting him, he remarked that if they didn’t hurry, he might die of boredom instead.
In Heaven, Lü Bü and Chen Gong were wandering through the vast expanse of heaven. As they walked, Brunhilde approached them, her presence commanding attention. She informed Lü Bü that she had someone she wanted him to fight. His only question was whether the opponent was strong. Brunhilde assured him that the fighter was indeed formidable, for he was a god. Hearing this, Lü Bü’s face broke into a wide smile.
