Round Six is the 23rd episode overall of the "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok" anime and the 11th episode of Season 2.
Synopsis[]
With the scoreboard almost neck-and-neck, Buddha declares that he'll fight in the next round — but whose side will he be fighting on?
Plot[]
The Seven Lucky Gods have surrounded Göll. Jack shows up and offers them some tea. Ebisu prepares to fight him, but Bishamonten calls it off and they leave. While leaving, Ebisu warns Göll to not tell anyone what she heard or he will bring judgment on her. Once they are gone, Göll relaxes, noting that those seven gods feel more like gods of malevolence than fortune. Jack is surprised that she said seven and looking at the gods, he states that assumptions are human beings greatest enemy. Göll isn't sure what he means, but Jack doesn't explain and offers her some tea. Göll notices that his entire body is in bandages and recalls his fight, noting that he is severely injured. Jack states it isn't as bad as it looks, but Göll tells him that either way he is injured and needs to stay in bed. Göll then takes some bandages and medicine for Brunhilde and leaves.
The sixth round is about to begin. So far Gods have won three, while humans two. Heimdall proceeds to introduce the Gods champion, noting that he gave up his castle, family, desires, emotions and headed on a hard path all by himself, and in just six mere years, he achieved enlightenment. Buddha then comes out. Some of the humanity can't believe that Buddha will be their enemy. However, Buddha doesn't stop at the gods fighter position and moves past Heimdall, stopping on the human's fighter position. The gods feel that he is doing as he pleases again and is just trying to get a better look at the humans. Heimdall tries telling Buddha that he is in the wrong spot, but Buddha asks him to throw away his gum and takes his horn. Buddha then announces that he will be fighting for mankind, shocking everyone. Some of the gods get angry and start insulting Buddha, calling him traitor, but Buddha gets annoyed and breaks the Gjallarhorn, telling them to shut up. Buddha announces that if the gods aren't going to save mankind, then he will, and if anyone gets in his way, he will kill him. The gods are furious. Göll wonders if this was also part of Brunhilde's plan. Brunhilde states that Buddha is someone who cannot be ordered.
Shorty before the sixth round, Buddha sees Brunhilde crying and notes that tears don't fit her and why she is crying. Brunhilde reveals that she is mourning those who have died. She wonders if she can help Buddha with something and Buddha reveals that Zeus told him to fight for him in the next round, however Buddha will fight for mankind. Brunhilde accepts, causing Buddha to note how chill her reaction was and if this was actually according to her plan. Buddha states that she came to him to learn about Samavadhana before even Ragnarok started, guessing she was preparing for a long time for this and if she was actually scheming to get him to fight the gods. Brunhilde denies it, but states that in Valhalla there isn't anyone else who hates the gods more than Buddha.
Heimdall tells Buddha that he can't fight for mankind, since the fighters have already been registered. Zeus then steps down and states he doesn't mind it, and that the rules only states that gods and humanity will each send out 13 fighters, so its not against the rules. Zeus then states that he is interested in participating again and fighting Buddha, and Buddha himself states he don't mind fighting Zeus. While the two stare at each other, Odin asks Buddha if he is prepared to make all of the gods his enemies. Buddha states that whatever they are allies or enemies, good or evil, gods or humans, it all doesn't matter, as the only thing that matters in the universe is Buddha himself. That annoys the gods. Buddha then asks who will be he fighting. Zeus laughs and states that the fighter for the sixth round has already been decided.
Dark clouds gather above the arena and voices calling "Judgment" are heard. A flying ship then comes down from the sky with the Seven Lucky Gods on it. The seven gods then face Buddha, and Zeus leaves, stating he is all theirs. Heimdall then announces that the fighter for the sixth round is Bishamonten. However, he sees the other six gods aren't moving and asks them if they can leave, as the seventh of them cannot fight together. Bishamonten then states that they are not seven and originally were one being. Bishamonten breaks his armor and calls the others. Ebisu and Hoteison then run towards Bishamonten and get absorbed by him. The other four then proceeds and do as well. The legend say that there were eight gods, however, there was no eighth god, the seven gods originally were one, and when this god descends earth, heavens shall fade, fortune shall vanish, and great calamity shall ensue. The seven gods then merge into one god, Zerofuku.
Giving off sinister vibe, Zerofuku points at Buddha, stating he will kill him. He starts stretching, noting that he can move, but feels something off. As Buddha doesn't react, Zerofuku states that he is still the same. Zerofuku then rips an axe with some flesh on it, stating that "slaughter" works the best. Ares didn't knew such sinister god existed. Hermes states that this is Zerofuku of legend, and that this misfortune has turned to fortune, as the sixth round turned into a grudge match. Heimdall receives a message that the gods fighter is no longer Bishamonten, but Zerofuku. He takes out a new horn and announces that the fighter for mankind is Buddha, while the fighter for the gods is Zerofuku. Göll realizes what Ebisu meant by "Zero". She wonders who is Zerofuku. Brunhilde states that the seven gods were just a temporary form, although this is the first time she is seeing Zerofuku, and he is their true form. Originally Zerofuku was a good god who spread fortune everywhere he went, however sorrow changed him.
