Genpaku Sugita was in the audience during the fifth round of Ragnarok, where cheered for Raiden Tameemon and made comments about his muscles. After the fifth round, Genpaku mourned Raiden Tameemon's death with tears.

Skilled Physician and Scholar: Genpaku Sugita is a very skilled physician and scholar. He is one of the first Japanese physicians to study Western medical teachings in Japan. He also posses a very decent amount of knowledge when it comes to foreign languages, being able to produce a Japanese translation of a Dutch book.

  • The name Genpaku means "mysterious, occultness" (玄) (gen) and "white" (白) (haku/paku).
  • Genpaku's surname Sugita means "cedar" (杉) (sugi) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta).
