Giants, also known as Jötnar, are one of the existing species in the world of "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok". They are one of the natural enemies of the Gods.
Overview[]
Giants have a very humanoid appearance, being very similar to that of a human. However they are a lot bigger, being taller than the titans and any other being seen so far.
They also possess abnormal and inhuman facial features, such as pointed ears, white pupils and pitch black eyes.
Origins and History[]
The Giants during the Gigantomachy
While not a lot is known about their origins, it is known that the giants come from Jötunheimr and that they were created by Gaia.
In the ancient era, the giants launched an offensive on Asgard. The army of giants was a lot bigger than any of the previous armies that have attacked Asgard in the past. Due to this fact, Asgard was brought to the edge of destruction, with many warriors and citizens being killed and eaten by the giants. When it seemed like all hope was lost, Thor confronted them and wiped out the entire army of 66 Jötnar by himself.
At some point, Gaia led the giants to an all out war with the gods, this war would be known as the Gigantomachy.

Culture[]
Little is currently known about the culture and society of the giants. It is known that they come from Jötunheimr. While they appear to prefer acting independently and alone, this is nothing but a trick in order to make their enemies lower their guard, in reality the giants are more than capable of working together.
They also hunt gods and other divine beings in order to use them as a source of food.
Abilities[]
Giant Physiology: Similar to the gods, the Giants have physical abilities far greater than most humans. Since the giants appear to see the gods as a source of food, it can be assumed that most giants are stronger than the average god.
- Enormous Size: The Giants are far bigger than any of the other species that have been shown so far. Their enormous size makes them even more powerful and dangerous. However, their size also makes them a bigger target.

As shown in Thor's flashback, the gods feared the giants and the giants treated the gods as a source of food. However they still respect and obey some deities, such as Gaia. However, their respect towards Gaia is likely due to the fact that she is their creator.

Just like the Gods, the giants treat them as a source of food.
