| Overview |
Humans are one of the existing species in the world of Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok. They are beings that were created by the Gods.
Overview[]
Humans are native to Midgard and can be usually be found there. However, since the souls of the dead are brought to Valhalla by the Valkyries, they can also be found within Heaven. Humans can also be send to Hell if they break the laws of the Gods. Michel Nostradamus is the only Human to ever be sent to Helheim, for the crime of nearly destroying the Bifröst.
As beings created in the image of the Gods, Humans have a very similar appearance to their creators.
Origins and History[]
While the account of events is not entirely clear, at one point (about 7,000,000 years before Ragnarok) in the Land of the Gods, one deity created two beings in his image to populate the Earth and rule over the animals, whom he named Adam and Eve. Sometime after this, a demon framed Eve as revenge for turning down his advances. In court, he falsely accused her of eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Eve was ruled guilty and banished from the Garden of Eden, and Adam decided to go with her. After leaving Heaven and going to Earth, Adam and Eve would live there and have many children, such as Cain and Abel.
From that point on, Humanity's history is almost identical to what is known in real life from historical science, as well as from various myths and religions.
Society[]
Culture[]
Humanity's culture is identical to real life, varying greatly depending on the location and time period. The same can be said about their laws and social structure.
Abilities[]
Golden Age: Once a Human soul arrives at the afterlife, they will have the appearance that they had during their golden age: the age in which they were at their peak. This usually results in most Human souls permanently having a youthful appearance and a healthy body.
Superhuman Physiology: Whilst most Humans have very inferior physical abilities when compared to those of a God, some exceptional individuals have the power to compete against their creators.
Unique Abilities: Some Humans also have unique abilities, either through divine intervention (like Adam), through a rare medical condition (like Raiden Tameemon) or through other methods.
Ascension to Godhood[]
It is possible for a Human to become a God. This can be done through a variety of methods, such as drinking the Ambrosia (like Heracles) or by reaching enlightenment (like Buddha).
Relationships[]
Gods[]
During ancient times, Humanity and the Gods had a close relationship, having a great number of worshippers in each pantheon who used to pray every day to praise the Gods. Whenever the Gods were displeased with Humanity's actions, they would cause catastrophic events to happen, such as the destruction of the Tower of Babel. This practice was stopped at the request of Alcides when he became a God.
The connection between Humans and the Gods slowly grew weaker as time passed, until in the 21st century, the Gods condemned the species to extinction for their immoral behavior and destruction of the environment. To prevent this, Brunhilde convinced the Gods to use Ragnarok to determine Humanity's fate.
No manmade weapons can harm the Gods, however, unarmed attacks by individuals with superhuman strength can still harm them.
Demons[]
Not much is known about the relationship between mankind and demonkind. However, from what is known about Human culture and folklore, Humans think that demons are evil beings that must be feared. In the past, Chiyou managed to leave Helheim and go to Earth, becoming an evil tyrant who ruled over China until he was killed by Qin Shi Huang.
