Isami Kondo is a Japanese swordsman and the commander of the Shinsengumi.
Appearance[]
Isami is a tall well-built man with black hair that is worn in a commonplace topknot hairstyle, a rectangular face with a vertical scar along the left side of his face and his eyes are always portrayed as closed, either because they are very slanted or to accentuate his cool and unfased demeanor.
He wears traditional Japanese clothes.
Personality[]
Isami is an ambitious, battle-hungry, but collected individual who is very supportive of Soji Okita and dislike injustice, choosing to aid Buddha in the fight against the Seven Lucky Deities.
Abilities[]
Swordsmanship: Isami is a very skilled swordsman, powerful enough to receive the position of commander within the Shinsengumi (a special police force of swordsmans). He is very confident on his skills and he might be even capable of competing with gods.
Supernatural Abilities[]
Golden Age: As a human soul in the afterlife, Isami posses the appearance and skills that he had during his Golden Age, the age in which he was at his peak.
Etymology[]
- The name Isami means "brave/bravery, courage" (勇).
- Isami's surname Kondo means "near, early, akin, tantamount" (近) (kon) and "wisteria" (藤) (to/do).
Trivia[]
- Isami's design and personality are taken from the "Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem" series, a series that run in the same magazine as "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok".
