Izanagi is a god in the Japanese Pantheon, one of his known exploits is that he ordered his children, the "Three Precious Children" (三貴神, Sankishin) to rule over the world. He is venerated as the God of Creation in the Japanese Pantheon, he is also the former leader and Supreme God of the Japanese Pantheon.
Appearance
Izanagi is dressed in a traditional robe with large billowing sleeves that give a grand appearance. His robe has multiple layers, with a inner, more fitted layer and an outer robe that drapes loosely over his shoulders. His lower garment is long and tied at the waist, flowing down to cover his legs completely. He wears an ornate necklace with hanging charms, creating a delicate chain over his chest. At the center of the necklace is a pendant. His hair is styled into two large and rounded loops on either side of his head. He has bangs that fall slightly off-center and fall over his forehead in thick angled strands.
Personality
When he was introduced as having instructed his children to rule over certain domains before seemingly disappearing, it can be assumed that he doesn't seem very responsible as he had his children take care of his duties for him. However, none of them seem to mind this and upon watching Susano'o's fight in the tenth round of Ragnarok, he and his children appear to be on amiable terms.
Also, for a supreme god, he seems to be very unusual as he willingly gave up his title and position to his daughter to lead the Japanese Pantheon and even display intrigue regarding his son's fight instead of trying to fight himself.
Izanagi was shocked and saddened when Susano'o was defeated and killed by Soji Okita. Nonetheless, Izanagi he chooses not to hate Humanity for killing his son, but rather ends up respecting them and Soji for giving meaning to his son's existence, and to honor him he saves Soji from death and bows before to him and the other members of the Shinsengumi, leaving all the other Gods astonished at the sight of a Supreme God bowing before Humans.
Plot
The Original Ragnarok
Izanagi, alongside the other 77 Primordial Gods, chose to fight against Yggdrasil, which consisted of Odin, Satan, Chaos, and Ymir, as well as seven other Primordial Gods. This conflict began when the 11 Primordial Gods decided to kill the other lower gods, deeming them "unnecessary". Their actions sparked a war among the Primordial Gods that would later become known as the Twilight of the Primordial Gods: Ragnarok.
Izanagi survived the onslaught with a handful of his allies, however, realizing they have no chance against Yggdrasil and the 7 others, Izanagi and the survivors decided to seal them using the forbidden technique: Glepnir - Weave Of Sealed Gods, which was partially successful. While they managed to get rid of the 11 Primordials, the members of Yggdrasil managed to sneak their weapons (which contails their souls) in time and hide in differents parts of the world, hoping to get revived one day.
Izanagi survived the strain of said technique, leaving him a scar on his right palm.
Relinquishing his position
At an unknown point in time (eons ago) he fathered Amaterasu Okami, Tsukuyomi no Mikoto and Susano'o no Mikoto. He gave his position of supreme god to his oldest daughter and instructing her to govern Takamagahara, the heavens while instructing Tsukuyomi and Susano'o to govern Aounabara No Shionoyaoe, the ocean and Ashihara No Nakatsukuni, the lands respectively.
Ragnarok
Gods's Council
Izanagi was present in the current Council of Gods, where the fate of humanity was decided. He witnessed Brunhilde's proposal of Ragnarok.
Tenth Round
Izanagi, together with Amaterasu Okami and Tsukuyomi no Mikoto, watched the battle between Susano'o and Soji Okita in the tenth round of Ragnarok, cheering his youngest son on. He was stunned when Soji injured Susano'o and destroyed his Divine Weapon at the same time. He later witnessed the death of Susano'o at the hands of Soji. Initally saddened, he mourned the death of his youngest son. Upon seeing Soji on the brink of death, he willingly healed him to the point where his life isnt in danger with Onogoro as a way of honouring Soji for allowing Susanoo to attain the peak of swordsmanship, thanking them as well.
Abilities
Overall Abilities: As both a god and the former leader and Supreme god of the Japanese Pantheon, it can be assumed that Izanagi is one of the most powerful gods of Valhalla and on par with Zeus, Shiva, Hades and Odin.
Physical Abilities
Godly Durability: Izanagi, as a god, is immensely durable. He is able to withstand the immense vacuum of the Gleipnir, which is so powerful that even time is compressed in it, and has managed to get away with only a wound to his right hand (which was the closest to the vacuum itself), despite that the most of his fellow Primordial Gods were gravely injured or straight away killed by it.
Godly Endurance & Stamina: Izanagi has great endurance, being able to uphold such an immensely powerful technique as the Gleipnir along with the other Primordial Gods, or to keep fighting against the Yggdrasil's constant onslaught without showing any visible signs of fatigue. Izanagi has high pain tolerance as well, as he didn't even flich and remained seemingly calm when his body started to disintegrate under the pressure of the Gleipnir's vacuum.
Supernatural Abilities
Divine Physiology: As a god, Izanagi possesses physical abilities far greater than any ordinary Human. His body cannot be harmed by mortal weapons. However, he can still be harmed by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength and Divine Weapons.
Semi-Immortality: As a god, Izanagi has a limitless lifespan and will not die of old age.
Fabricakinesis: As a god, Izanagi possesses the power of creation which allowed him to give life to his 3 children Amaterasu Okami, Tsukuyomi no Mikoto and Susano'o no Mikoto.
Healing:[1] Izanagi is able to heal a human by chanting a spell. This technique is powerful enough to bring Soji Okita who is about to die to a point where his life is not in danger.
