The Primordial Gods were an ancient race of Gods that created the universe. Of the original 88, it is confirmed that 74 are deceased, while 11 are currently sealed away for crimes against their fellow deities and the universe, leaving only 3.
They can be considered to be the overarching antagonists of the Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok series.
Overview[]
Primordial Gods had similar appearances to the current Gods, being vaguely human-like with certain inhuman features, such as horns, claws or tentacles. The main attribute that separated the two races was power, with the Primordial Gods possessing enough power to create an entire universe from, presumably, nothing.

Origins and History[]
According to the current generation of Gods, the Primordial Gods were born from the chaos of the beginning and shaped all of creation into what it is today, ruling over the world until their physical bodies started to break down from being unable to contain their own immense power.
However, according to Siegfried, this origin and series of events is actually false. The truth is there were originally 88 Primordial Gods, and among those Gods were four that stood out, known as "The Four Primordial Pillars Yggdrasil", they were Ymir, Satan, Chaos and Odin.
One day, these Pillars, along with seven other like minded Primordials, decided to kill off the lower Gods, believing them "unnecessary". However, the remaining 77 Primordials turned against them, sparking a great war that would become known as the "Original Ragnarök". Despite their advantage in numbers, it proved near impossible for the other Primordials to defeat the 11 Pillars.
During the fight against the 11 Primordials, the rest of the primordials constantly shifted their base and put up resistance. By the time more than half of the 77 opposing Gods died, the Great Inventor God Gǫllnir invented "Gleipnir": an application of space time technology which creates an inescapable space pocket. Gleipnir is powerful enough to be considered a Forbidden Technique and it uses its user's life force as a power source with the possibility of killing the user if it drains all their life force. With the new invention, the remainding Primordial Gods brought the 11 Primordials to "a wasteland at the at the edge of the world" where Gollnir triggered Gleipnir. Eventually the 11 Primordials were sealed, but the cost of sealing such powerful primordial gods was that most of the Primordial Gods that powered Gleipnir were killed, with only 7 of them remainding, including Izanagi, Eirin and Gǫllnir.
Before they were sealed away, the Pillars of Yggdrasil transferred some of their essences into their Divine Treasures and sent them off into the world in the hopes that one or more people would stumble upon one of these Treasures, thereby awakening one of them. This ultimately came to pass when, after an eternity, a young nameless God found the "Gram Sword", which was originally wielded by Odin. Upon taking up the blade, he received immense power but ended up being possessed and becoming a vessel of Odin.
After the sealing of the 11 primordials, the remainding 7 surviving Primordials gods gathered together to decide if they should allow the knowlege of Gleipnir to remain in the world. All except Gǫllnir were in agreement, deciding that the truth of the Original Ragnarok poses too much risk and danger. Gǫllnir was restrained and captured as a prisoner. Gǫllnir later escaped with the help of his disciples (known as the People of Gǫllnir). He wandered around the world while writing a book about the truth of everything, naming it the Book of Gǫllnir.
Gǫllnir later returned to the other primordials, who reluctantly declared that his intentions poses too much of a threat to everything that they did already. Entrusting the truth written in his book to the future where one day it would be needed to rectify anything should Gleipnir be broken. Gǫllnir enchanted the book, empowering the enchantment with the entirety of his life force, and ultimately dying in his wife's embrace. The remaining 6 Primordials, still believing that the truth should remain hidden, combined their strength to burn the book, denying Gǫllnir his wish of keeping a record of the truth. However, the enchantment transferred the contents of the burnt book to another book, preserving the written truth that the primordials witnessed.
At some point, the Primordial Goddess Gaia created the Giants and waged a great war against the Gods after the fall of the Titans during the Titanomachy. What became of the Primordial Gods after the Gigantomachy is currently unknown, but it can be presumed that most of them either died out or went into hiding at some point, with their existence being viewed as myths and/or legend by a majority of the current generation of Gods.

Trivia[]
- As Gaia was mentioned to have created the Giants, it can be presumed that many other beings (such as Demons and the Titans) were also created by her, or they were made by another of the Primordial Gods.
- The number of Primordial Gods which once existed (88) could be in reference to the number of modern constellations.
